Jog For the Jake - The Jog for the Jake is a family-oriented, fun run to help raise funds for the fight against neurological disease. The run is held annually on Father's Day in honor of the late Lawrence D. Jacobs, MD ("The Jake"), a brilliant and caring man who helped many people affected with MS and other neurological diseases.

Patient Education Programs - As part of the Lawrence D. Jacobs - MS Comprehensive Care Center, the JNI hosts monthly education programs for people with MS and their families. The programs are free of charge and are open to anyone who would like to learn more about MS. Topics featured in the past include: Newly Diagnosed, Exercise and Alternative Therapies, Managing Stress and Spasticity.

Epilepsy Walk - The JNI participates in the Maggie Lee 5K Memorial Run/Fun Walk. Maggie Lee was a counselor, community activist and friend of the Epilepsy Association.

MS Dinner of Champions - Each year, the JNI supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Dinner of Champions. In November 2005, the dinner was chaired by Frank Ciminelli and featured Dr. Frederick Munschauer, Chief of the Jacobs Neurological Institute, as a distinguished speaker.

Pediatric MS Launch - The JNI, in collaboration with Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo was designated as one of six MS Pediatric Centers of ExcellenceT in the United States . The Center was launched in January 19, 2006 and is located in Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Agent SAM: Stroke Awareness Mission - This unique public awareness campaign by the JNI's Research Center for Stroke and Heart Disease taught 400 local 4 th and 5 th graders about the warning signs of and actions to take at the on-set of a stroke. The students were each assigned a "mission" to teach four other adults or family members about stroke. The program also featured billboards and radio ads to promote stroke awareness.
